Welcome!

Welcome to the home of the Higher Education Alliance for Residential Single Parent Programs. The goal of the Alliance is to provide a venue for directors and personnel responsible for higher education residential programs for single parents to:

  • network
  • share best practices
  • exchange resources that benefit our institutions, programs, personnel and single parents
  • promote national awareness and advocacy
  • provide training and educational opportunities for professionals that will empower single parents as they take the necessary actions to change the direction of their lives.

The institutions involved in the Alliance have deliberately linked college and university residential single parent support programs to assist single-parent families as they make decisions about higher education. Additionally, the programs identified provide programming and academic support to single parents in their pursuit of higher education and personal development.

Now that you have found us, if you are a single parent, take the steps to make your dreams a reality. Read the stories of parents just like you. Investigate the various colleges and universities to determine which would be the best fit for you and your children. Contact the institutions that most appeal to you to find out about the degrees offered. Talk to a career counselor about your talents and goals for the future. Finally, take the plunge and enroll!!

If you are a professional and would like to know more about the Alliance, our programs or establishing a residential program for single parents, please contact any one of us using the information listed on the Programs page of this website.

We look forward to hearing from you as you move forward with your education.

I’ll never forget where I was
when I learned of the Women with
Children program at Misericordia
University. I was at my full-time job and
one of the girls I worked with was a Misericordia student. We were talking about all of the trials and tribulations that go along with being a college student when she said that Misericordia had a program specifically for women and their children. I couldn’t believe my ears. I grilled her for specifics but all she knew was that there was a dorm and moms lived there with their kids. As soon as I got home, I started doing my research.
